The Western Trunk Line is a large diameter pipeline that provides potable water to city residents in the South Los Angeles and Harbor communities.
As part of this project, LADWP will replace approximately a four mile segment of the existing pipeline installed between 1916 and 1947. The pipeline will be replaced with new, larger diameter earthquake resistant ductile iron pipe (ERDIP).
Preliminary work to locate underground utilities and classify soil conditions on Western Ave. from W. 60th St. to W. 103rd St. is expected from August 24 to September 11, 2020, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Traffic along Western Ave. will remain open in both directions. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic routes will be delineated around work areas with street striping, signage to ensure safety of the public and crews.
