Above is a video from the Western Our Way Celebration on June 4, 2022. The video includes ECCANDC residents concerns, and ECCANDC President speaking to the community during the celebration.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Vision Zero concluded the public engagement efforts for this stage of the project with a Street Safety Celebration at Harvard Park. At the event, over 200 members of the community came out to learn about the project, enjoy locally-catered food, try out a bicycle obstacle course, and celebrate a new vision for Western Avenue. It was fantastic to see so many of you and to continue to build relationships between and within the community!

We hope that many of the improvements planned for Western Avenue will be funded through the Active Transportation Program grant from the State of California, which the City applied for this month. The results of this competitive grant program will be announced by early 2023. In the meantime, look out for other on-going improvements on the corridor, like left-turn signal upgrades, new traffic signals, and new pedestrian signals, and stay tuned to the project website for updates.
