Ray Waller, a 37-year-old teacher at Bullard High School, has been arrested on multiple sex crime charges involving a minor. The Fresno Police Department took Waller into custody on Thursday after allegations surfaced of inappropriate conduct with a student.
Waller, who has been employed by the Fresno Unified School District for less than a year, faces ten serious charges, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, use of a minor to produce pornography, distributing pornography to a minor, and lewd acts with a juvenile aged 14 or 15.
Fresno Police Investigate Potential Additional Victims
Fresno police spokesman Luke Tran confirmed that the incidents involve at least one student but warned that investigators believe there may be more victims. “Nobody ever wants to see this happen, but unfortunately, it did. We are working closely with the district attorney’s office to ensure the maximum penalty,” Tran stated.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the Bullard High School community, leaving parents and students deeply concerned. Ruben Pineda, a parent, expressed his disappointment, saying, “We trust teachers to keep our students safe. This kind of behavior is unacceptable.”
Community Reaction and Student Concerns
Karianna Fletcher, an 18-year-old senior at Bullard, shared her discomfort, stating, “It’s really gross and disgusting. It makes me question how much we can trust our teachers.” Fletcher revealed that Waller had reportedly made inappropriate comments to her friend, including complimenting her appearance and fixing her hair.
Fletcher and other students are urging the Fresno Unified School District to implement stricter hiring practices to prevent such incidents in the future.

In response to Waller’s arrest, the Fresno Unified School District issued a statement, emphasizing their commitment to student safety and cooperation with law enforcement. The district assured parents that they are taking the matter seriously and will review their hiring and monitoring protocols.
Ray Waller is currently being held at the Fresno County Jail as the investigation continues. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information or concerns to come forward.
