Los Angeles, California, June 15, 2022 – Last Night, The Empowerment Congress Central Area Neighborhood Council voted 7-2 to provide $20,000 in support to the soon to open Proposition HHH Chesterfield Apartment for homeless seniors. The Chesterfield Apartments will be a community of 42 affordable units designed for formerly local homeless seniors age 55+, including individuals with disabilities. St. Joseph Center will oversee the operations and services and programs will be tailored to the individual needs of its residents. The Chesterfield Apartments are set to open in July of 2022.

Neighborhood Councils across Los Angeles risk losing thousands of dollars out of their communities and back into to the city’s general fund if not spent or allocated by June 20, 2022 the City’s end of the fiscal year is June 30, 2022, “Today We, as a Board not only kept $20,000 in our community we also sent a clear message that We as Neighborhood Councils play a vital role in helping to end the homeless epidemic we face in Los Angeles,” said Daymond R. Johnson, President of the Empowerment Congress Central Neighborhood Council.

The mission of the Empowerment Congress Central Area Neighborhood Council is to help improve the quality of life in communities within the Neighborhood Council boundaries, and to work with community Stakeholders to identify community concerns, and work with other City Officials, and Departments to identify resources to address issues and develop solutions.

About Chesterfield Apartments:
The Chesterfield Apartments will be a community of 42 affordable homes designed for formerly homeless seniors age 55+, including individuals with disabilities. The development will revitalize an underutilized site with a new residential community that will help alleviate the City’s need for supportive housing for our most vulnerable neighbors. Residents will benefit from a combination of high-quality, secure homes and support services designed to help them use housing as a platform for stability and health.
